European Tours 2007

Happy New Year, Everybody! This is a new year for Avanti Tours Inc. In 2007 Avanti Tours Inc. will offer new services for the European traveler who wants to strike out on his/her own, experience Italy with a personal guide, or join in a group tour that explores some of the old capital cities of Europe. Since so many travelers have now acquired frequent flier miles or are joining group tours and are coming from various parts of the world, Avanti Tours Inc. is pricing tours minus air. Avanti will arrange your flight or you can do it yourself, as long as it coincides with the set itinerary. Realizing that some travelers may have already been to certain places on the itinerary but would like to go again, Avanti can provide for alternative activities in those cities. Some travelers may opt to skip planned activities and just “stop and smell the roses” – it is YOUR vacation – do it! Please read about the exciting options that are now available and make plans for an adventurous 2007.

Capital Cities of Europe

June 25 to July 7

$3200 pp dbl occ. plus air   $600 single supplement

Prague

Begin your European holiday in Prague, one of the most beautiful cities in the world! Your time in this fantastic city will include three nights in a four star centrally located hotel. All hotels on this tour are four stars and offer a breakfast buffet that is sure to energize you for planned activities or for striking out on your own. You can choose to join the group on guided tours, sample two Czech dinners, or pick and choose as you wish! Maybe shopping or sidewalk cafes are more to your liking – go for it!

Vienna

The group leaves Prague by coach(many of you know Mauro, Jack’s favorite driver) and makes its way to Vienna – of course, stopping for lunch in the countryside. Here again, Vienna is yours to design. Perhaps you have seen Schonbrunn or St Stephansdom, let Jack or the hotel concierge direct you to other Viennese treats. A highlight of this tour will be a performance at the famous Spanish Riding School(based on ticket availability). The Hotel Ananas will comfort you for three nights and an Austrian dinner will show you why the Hapsburgs stuck around for so long!

Salzburg

Salzburg is the next stop on this tour. You can walk in the footsteps of Mozart, take a boat ride on the Danube, or join in a  tour of this magical town which will highlight the history, architecture, and charm of Salzburg and its surroundings. The tour will end at the imposing fortress, Hohensalzburg. The hotel for two nights is located a few kms outside of town. It will surely inspire you to wake up singing from the Sound of Music! It is a typical Austrian hotel complete with featherbeds, flowered window boxes, Alpine vistas, and two great dinners.  If you wish to go into Salzburg for the evening, Mauro will arrange your transportation.

Munich

After a scenic drive through the Alps, you will arrive for your final three nights in Munich. Once again you can plan your own activity from a central hotel or select from planned activities. A general bus tour of the city, dinner in The Pauliner Im Tal restaurant, and a special dinner buffet featuring Bavarian song and dance are some of the planned activities. One day will be reserved for a day trip on the Romantiscestrasse(Romantic Road) to the fairyland castles of King Ludwig in Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau.

The tour departs from the Munich airport.

A Taste of Italy

September 4 to 18

$3300 pp dbl occ. plus air  $500 single supplement

Avanti’s favorite bus driver, Mauro, will pick up the group at Rome’s Fiumicino Airport for a drive along the Apennines to the once buried city of Pompeii. After a guided tour the bus continues along the winding coast to a hotel in downtown Sorrento. Three nights give ample opportunity to enjoy this coastal gem, daytrip by boat to Capri, tour the island and visit The Blue Grotto, or take a boat trip to Positano and The Amalfi Coast.  Two wonderful dinners are provided in Hotel Michelango.

The next phase of the tour focuses on Rome (three nights in a central hotel). Two and half days of organized touring take in the Classical Area(Forum, Colosseum, etc), St Peter’s and The Vatican Museum, and the fountains of Rome. A special dinner in a restaurant favored by Pope John featuring Roman Cuisine is included. An evening bus trip will take in one of the most charming neighborhoods, Trastevere. Those who may have seen these sights may want to arrange a different tour with Jack or his wife, Mary.

Leaving Rome behind, the tour will head for Chianciano Terme for two nights. This hotel will be the base for daytrips to hilltowns of Umbria and  Tuscany e.g. Orvieto, Pitigliano, Sovana, and Pienza. One day will feature a tour and five course(w/paired wines)luncheon at the world famous Banfi Winery.

The ninth day in Italy finds the group driving to Siena for touring, shopping, and eating pastries at Nannini’s (a shrine to Jack). If  you are lucky there may be an opportunity to visit one of the famous, private Palio Museums??? From Siena the tour heads to a Villa at the foot of San Gimignano for three nights. The Villa will be a base for excursions into Florence and surrounding towns like Volterra and San Gimignano. Two wonderful dinners in the villa and another winery gourmet dinner in Chianti are included.

The final leg of this tour travels to Venice - what a way to end a great trip!!! The tour of Venice and surrounding islands of Murano and Burano will stay in your memory forever. You can watch the sun go down while sipping a limoncello or dance under the stars in Piazza San Marco.

The tour departs from the Venice Airport.
